Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum that is relic local the West of Hanoi city about 500km, the battle ground in Dien Bien Phu marking a victorious exploit of Vietnamese people in the Indochina War. 
 

 
Established in 1984, this history-society museum displays 270 objects and more than 200 paintings and photos of great historical value. The exhibits are categorized into 5 sections: Dien Bien Phu’s strategic position, the enemy garrison at  Dien Bien Phu, the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, the effect of the Dien Bien Phu victory, and Dien Bien Phu today.
 

Dien Bien Phu’s strategic position located in a valley surrounded by mountains, hills and paddy fields. The valley has a length of 20km and a width of 6km. All year round, the mighty Nam Ron River provides it with fresh water. Realizing the strategic position of this land, in 1953, the French decided to turn it into a military headquarters and equip it with the most powerful weapons at that time.
 

 
The battle of  Dien Bien Phu marked the end of the French involvement in Southeast Asia. France had lost more than 35,000 men and 48,000 had been wounded in a war
